I recently had to go to this location to check my tyres, after placing a 1 coin in the machine there was no pump noise, I reset the required psi and put in another 1 coin still no joy. However all the air had been let out of my front left tyre. I went to the counter to ask if the machine was broken. I was told by the woman behind the counter that I possibly had not put the hose on correctly. I am a qualified mechanic, it was on correctly however I humoured her and tried again this time only putting 50p in, still no joy. I asked the driver of the car behind if he wouldnt mind checking the pump, he had a look and said it was broken this after he put in another 50p. This is probably a new revenue stream for SPAR if so it is working making 3 in as many minutes.I returned to the shop to inform them that I had lost 2:50, the woman behind the counter gave me 1:50 accusing me of telling her that I said 1:50. She said that is all she could do, I said I couldnt move due to the front tyre being flat. She said what do you want me to do blow it up, I said it would be helpful. I asked her who I could complain to, she asked what about. I said the fact that that air pump wasnt working for starters. I asked if she had a foot pump I could use, she offered me one that was on sale. I took it to use it and she said that I should make sure I returned it. (The item in question was cheap and not very good) I took it to the car and started to use it unfortunately I am not good with my balance and my foot kept falling of the pump. Luckily the gentlemen who was parked behind was still there and very kindly put the pressure into my tyre.I returned the pump to the shop and placed it back in the box and handed it to the, as yet to be, helpful counter person. She asked if I was sorted, I said if you call being 1 lighter and more hot air coming over the counter than going in my tyre then I am sorted.Couple of points for SPAR; 1. Have a review of the quality of your foot pumps to ensure they are fit for purpose, 2. Get some Customer Service Training for your staff.Luckily I do not live in the area so will not be using this particular SPAR Service Station again.
Some staff are very rude and make assumptions about costumers (e.g children from school, they always think the kids are stealing)
It's an Esso petrol station with a Spar, Subway, & fuel (!)
